The shooting sports industry has proudly served in a leadership role in supporting youth shooting sports programs nationwide. ORGANIZING A YOUTH CLUB
NRA offers resources, programs and training to assist youth organizations to succeed in bringing the joy of shooting to our kids:
Developing Your Youth Shooting Sports Program – This new book will give you information and tips on planning and conducting a youth shooting sports program. The Interactive Idea Sections offer key planning strategies, such as setting goals, determining the program’s focus, choosing activities, determining what resources and equipment you need and how to get it, and promoting the program. NRA Neighborhood Air Gun Program – New! Full-color book detailing everything you need to know about air gun shooting including equipment, competitions, safety and more. Many photos and illustrations. Start an After School Archery Program! ASAP programs continue where the “first shot” leaves off! FUND RAISING SOURCES
Since its inception, The NRA Foundation, Inc., has funded more than 15,000 grants totaling over $100 million, becoming America’s leading charitable organization in support of the shooting sports.
State Fund Grants are awarded to eligible applicants for qualifying projects or activities that promote firearms and hunting safety and enhance the marksmanship skills of those participating in the shooting sports. State Fund Committees meet annually to review and recommend eligible projects for funding. Final approval rests with The NRA Foundation, Inc. Board of Trustees. Application submission deadlines and meeting dates are determined independently within each respective state.

NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program
This reference details the program guidelines and contains courses of fire for smallbore rifle, light rifle, high power rifle, air rifle, air pistol, handgun, bullseye pistol, shotgun (trap, skeet, sporting clays) and muzzleloading firearms shooting. Shooting Sports Camps
NRA Shooting Sports Camps provide youth and their families the opportunity to come together under a formal program to learn, experience, share and grow in appreciation of the shooting sports. The camp themes offered in the program are designed for discovery. They provide exposure to the many different activities available in shooting sports and offer camp participants the opportunity to explore them in a safe, controlled environment.

Competitive Shooting
The NRA offers a Sanctioned Special Tournament at reduced match fees to assist youth organizations with their junior shooting programs. A club or team that wants to participate must belong to a national youth-serving organization such as (but not limited to) the 4-H, The American Legion, JROTC, the U.S. Jaycees or the Boy Scouts of America. Junior Shooters is a magazine dedicated to the next generation of shooters and the businesses, organizations, families and friends that support them. Junior Shooters is dedicated to juniors of all ages, but primarily from the age of eight to 21, depending upon the shooting sport. The premier issue of Junior Shooters was published in August, 2007 and strives to be the first of its kind to promote juniors involved in shooting and the many disciplines they are shooting, all in one publication. Junior shooters and their parents now have a publication in which they can learn what is needed to get started in many different shooting venues.
