Themission of the Bossier Parish 4-H Shooting Sports Program is to assist youth (ages 9 to 19) inacquiring knowledge developing life skills and forming attitudes so that theymay become self-directing productive and contributing members of society. The Bossier Parish 4-H Shooting SportsProgram promotes volunteer leadership capacity building for youth andfamilies and the environmental stewardship with commitments from the LouisianaState University Ag Center. The 4-HShooting Sports Program is an active program that is attractive to both youthand adults. The program uses positivelearning and interaction with youth and adult role models. The Program is designed to:1. Assist youth to learn safeand responsible use of shooting equipment2. Promote the highest standardsof safety sportsmanship and ethical behavior3. Enhance self-confidence self-concept decision making character personal development responsibility and sportsmanship4. Develop leadership andcitizenship within 4-H parameters for youth and adults5. Expand 4-H membership andinvolve more volunteer adult leaders6. To strengthen familiesthrough participation in life-long recreational activities7. Create an appreciation andunderstanding of natural resources8. To encourage participation innatural resources and related natural science programs by exposing participantsto the content through hunting/fishing and related activities9. To develop an understandingof the principles of wildlife management10. To complement and enhancethe impact of existing safety shooting and hunter educational programs inaccordance with Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
