Christian County Shooting Stars 4-H Club provides a safe learning environment for youth to gain knowledge and practical experiences in Firearm and Archery Safety. There is an increased interest in Shooting Sports across our county. During this past year, 2013 between February and September, 315 youth participants signed in attendance of a scheduled shooting sports discipline shoot/training session. Through the summer months, when school was not in session during June until September, Archery shoots were held every Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm, Rifle shoots were held on Saturdays from 9-11 am, and Shotgun shoots were held on Sundays from 2-4 pm. Our programgoals and objectives are:1. To promote the highest standards of safety, sportsmanship and ethical behavior.2. To develop and/or enhance LIFE Skills of - Critical thinking, respect, self discipline, decision-making, goal setting, teamwork, problem solving and many more.3. To encourage better understanding, respect for, and appreciation of our Natural Resources.4. To promote the development of leadership traits in both youth and adults.5. To promote positive character building, increased self confidence, self respect, and self esteem within program participants for the realization of assuming common citizenship responsibilities.6. To create opportunities for enjoyable experiences, while encouraging positive learning, relationships with peers, adult volunteers/instructors, and strengthen family values during participation in recreational activities that can last a lifetime.7. To promote the highest standards of safety, education, and instruction in the responsible use of firearms and archery equipment.8. To offer insight of other benefits created by shooting sports programs and activities for ourselves, our families, our communities, and our world through the creation of many business, career, and financial opportunities within the shooting sports industries.
