Cibola County 4-H Shooting Sports

Description

The purpose of the 4-H Shooting Sports Program is youthdevelopment. Through participation in firearm safety training and shootingsports activities young men and women are given the opportunity to learnresponsibility sportsmanship self-discipline and other qualities critical tothe development of productive citizens.These qualities along with mentorship and giving back to the communityare some of 4-H's fundamental objectives. 4-H Shooting Sports is a national program with over 300 000young people taking part thus making it one of the largest shooting educationprograms in the United States. NewMexico 4-H Shooting Sports involves thousands of kids and continues to growannually. Locally our programparticipation is growing every year and we wish to accommodate all interestedin getting involved.In addition Cibola County 4-H Shooting Sports competes in4-H Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) USA Shooting (USAS) National RifleAssociation (NRA) USA Archery (USAA) Academic Integrity and Marksmanship(AIM) New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF) and other competitionswith the purpose of gaining interest in our community and encouraging moreyouth to get involved. We are looking togrow our program by acquiring equipment and accessing facilities which willpromote proper shooting methods and techniques and allow us to be competitiveat various contests. Better facilitiesand access to equipment is crucial in getting more youth educated in firearmssafety and teaching them the importance and responsibilities of their 2ndAmendment rights.
