Description
Dan Beard Council has 2 Resident Camp programs and 2 Day Camp programs. At the Scouts BSA camp (grades 6-12), we offer the Archery, Rifle, and Shotgun Merit Badges programs during Summer Camp. Summer Camp runs from Mid-June through the beginning of August. We also offer open shoot times for those listed above, as well as Cowboy Action and Muzzleloader. In 2022, with our Scouts BSA Summer Camp Program and our Council Wide Camporee, we had over 2,000 youth participate in our Merit Badge programs and open programming. We anticipate this number growing in 2023 with Summer Camp numbers increasing, and our Shoot-A-Palooza camporee in September 2023.
Our Cub Scout Resident camp (grades 1-5) offers Archery and BB Guns. Summer Camp runs from Mid-June through the beginning of August. We had over 1,000 youth take part in Archery and BB Guns twice during their stay at Cub World Adventure Camp. We also offer Day Camps for our Youth who live further from the city center in June and July. We had 75 participants last year that participated in Archery and BB Guns.
Throughout the year we offer programs for units to come out and rent out Archery, BB Gun, and other Shooting Sports facilities. They work with our Shooting Sports Committee to ensure there is proper supervision present. We also offer NRA Rangemaster, NRA Pistol, NRA Rifle, NRA Muzzleloader, and NRA Shotgun for participants and trainers.
