Description
The 4-H Shooting Sports Club is a project club for boys and girls who are 4-H members ages 8-18. The main purpose of the club is to teach gun safety. About two-thirds of the homes in the U.S. have firearms. Exposure to responsible handling is vital to safety. Shooting is the second most popular international sport behind track and field. It is unique in being a lifetime sport. After classroom instruction on how to properly handle firearms the students get to demonstrate what they have learned when they move to the firing line. Our motto is "safety first and fun second." The program goals are to teach safe and responsible use of firearms and equipment that includes sound decision-making self-discipline and concentration and to teach the highest standards of safety sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
