The focus of all 4-H programs is the development of youth as individuals and as responsible and productive citizens. The Henderson County 4-H Shotgun Sports Program stands out as an example. Youth learn marksmanship the safe and responsible use of firearms the principles of hunting and shooting and much more. The activities of the program and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills self-worth and conservation ethics.The objectives of this organization is to enhance development of participant's self-concept character and personal growth through safe educational and socially acceptable involvement in shotgun sports. To provide educational and challenging experiences that will enable young people to become knowledgeable and skilled in gun safety and shotgun sports. To promote the highest standards of safety sportsmanship and ethical behavior. To provide information and training in other 4-H activities as members' interests dictate. To help each member experience personal growth and achievement as well as be of service to others. Our club participates in 2 practices per month and travels throughout the state of Texas participating in shooting competitions throughout the year.
