Johnson County Youth Hunt (Sponsored by Pheasants Forever)


Every year the Johnson County Chapter of Pheasants Forever sponsors a guided youth hunt in early October at Eckman's Hunting Preserve as well as several Youth Shooting Clinics hosted at Powder Creek Shooting Club.100% of the events are free to those participating (meaning the chapter provides the targets ammunition youth sized guns if need and often food and refreshments as well).SUMMER SHOOTING CLINICS:Several times throughout the off season the Johnson County PF Chapter sponsors shooting clinics at the Powder Creek Gun Club in Lenexa KS.The events include professional shooting instruction for youth and are 100% free to participants.ANNUAL YOUTH HUNT:For each hunter the day starts with a hunter safety refresher warm-up clays and then a 1-2 hour hunt including two pheasants each. After the hunt they have time to chat with other hunters shoot additional clays and enjoy the Family Fun Activities. Lunch is provided and prizes are raffled to the youth hunters present during lunch.In addition to the hunt family fun activities are held for hunters and their family including: an archery range pellet gun shooting and a casting challenge.The hunt is sponsored by the local Johnson County Chapter 706 at no cost to hunters with the Chapter providing the facility birds dogs ammunition and volunteers.This link is to a video to our recent 2014 Youth Hunt:
