The Juneau Shooting Sports Foundation Inc. (more often called JSSF) was formed in 2006 as a nonprofit State of Alaska corporation to promote and facilitate use of the Juneau indoor and outdoor shooting ranges including archery. All program participation is entirely volunteer. JSSF is a 501(c)(3) organization. JSSF works with the Juneau School District to maintain the middle school air rifle programs in both schools and continues to be the chief source of funding for that program.The chief areas of JSSF interest are: Youth Firearms and archery safety and marksmanship programs. Hunting and firearms and archery safety classes. Assisting instructor training courses. Assisting in range safety officer training. Assisting in community outdoor safety classes. Assisting in establishment of competitive firearms programs. Assisting in establishment of competitive archery programs. Assisting in firearms and archery certification programs. Assisting in promoting and conducting hunting safety programs.The indoor range has hosted a number of rifle and pistol leagues hosts frequent hunter safety training hosts 4-H American Legion and BSA shooting programs and participates in other shooting and outdoors related programs and events that are of value to Juneau.JSSF is affiliated with the National Rifle Association and the Alaska Outdoor Council and works closely with the Juneau Archery Club Territorial Sportsmen Juneau Gun Club Juneau Rifle and Pistol Club and other organizations.
