Description

stablished in the 1960s and chartered under the Boy Scouts of America and the Learning for Life program, the Explorer program serves and mentors male and female youth between the ages of 14-21. Youth are trained by sworn law enforcement officers in the various areas to include: traffic stops, crime scene, firearms, active shooter, public speaking, leadership training, community service and more. Using what they learn, Explorers have opportunities to compete against other Explorer Posts at the regional, state, and national levels.

The Leon County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post is an award-winning group of young leaders. In addition to training and competing in various Explorer events, this group of youth is dedicated to serving our community through various service projects. They are youth ambassadors for the Sheriff’s Office who represent the agency through the honor guard, various charitable and community engagements, and in training scenarios.

When eligible to do so, many Explorers pursue careers in law enforcement

Age of Participants: 14-21
