Description
This is a city sponsored youth program that runs 10 weeks in the fall and 10 weeks in the spring semester. We are NRA and CMP affiliated. We have 5 NRA trained and certified instructors with one of them an NRA trainer. Participants complete the NRA Basic Training course with shooting being the main activity. Youth are awarded with certificates as they progress in their marksmanship shooting. This program has been in existence since about the year 1949. Of course there is a fee for joining the program. We have anywhere from 30 to 60 students during the fall semester but the spring usually sees an increase in the number of participants. We also have a separate program for those who wish to excel and compete in this sport. These kids practice separate from our regular program but compete with other clubs in the state and compete in NRA sectional matches. This program holds Hunter Safety classes later in spring.
