Youth .22 Marksmanship ProgramOpen to girls and boys 9 to 17 years of age.Year 1 is a National Rifle Association based program.The SHC's Youth Rifle Marksmanship Program is run by NRA Certified Instructors volunteering their time to teach the participants safe rifle handling skills, shooting accuracy and reinforcing a positive and supportive learning environment. This first year program involves rifle basics that include learning firearm safety, the parts and their function and basic marksmanship skills from the prone, sitting / kneeling and standing positions.The program will involve bookwork initially. Once that is complete, we'll get to the range. Please plan on being at each session with your child.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The second year program is open to students who have completed our first year program. It will be accelerated compared to last year. We'll be using the Civilian Marksmanship Program format. This entails 3 positional shooting at 50 and 25 yards with standardized targets. There will be more focus on proficiency compared to last year where the emphasis was introductory in nature.
