Description

Camp Sheanandoah and our Cub Scout Day/Family Camps have 2 000 attendees annually. Shooting sports is a main draw at these events. Cub Scouts are elementary school age youth participate in BB Gun and Archery. Boy Scouts who are middle and high school age men can shoot .22 rifles shotguns and muzzle loaders. Venturers who are coed ages 14-21 can also shoot centerfire rifle and handguns.New to Scouting is the opportunity for a Boy Scout at Summer Camp and other Council sponsored events permits Boy Scouts over the age of 14 to shoot handguns. Historically we host one event a year where Venturers can shoot handguns and we borrow firearms for that event. Our plan is to purchase 5 .22LR pistols for use in our events given the opportunity to permit more youth to shoot handguns. Our organization has provided for 5 people to become certified as Pistol Instructors through the NRA which meets the BSA's guidelines and we have expect to have ample ammunition on inventory to meet the demands of the new program.
