Polk County 4-H Shooting Sports

Description

Polk County offers a Shooting Sports program that offers youth the opportunity to learn about all aspects of the Shooting Sports with the exception of Handguns.We incorporate Naturespace into our program and put a special emphasis on safety.Spring program (The Dinosaur Hunt) is geared toward youth that have not taken Hunter's Education. We teach safe handling of firearms and make sure we identify eye dominance to lay the groundwork for a lifetime of good learning skills. We encourage parents who may not have a background in firearms or shooting sports to join their children. Youth have fun in a safe, controlled environment and Polk County keeps the population of paper Dinosaurs in check.Summer program includes the County Pre-fair shoot. Youth shoot for premiums and ribbons to display at the county fair.We have a excellent Archery program led by a very committed group of volunteers that are determined to start young archers out correctly.
